A Labor of Love, Rooted in Conviction
Amici Latinae was born in 2017 from a simple yet profound conviction: that Latin should not be a chore to endure, but a joyful discovery to be embraced. Our founder, Magistra Christine, saw too many bright students lose their natural love of learning when faced with a journey without joy and an experienced instructor to lead them. She knew there had to be a better way.
With a rich background in both traditional classroom teaching and homeschooling, Magistra Christine understood that a "one-size-fits-all" approach fails children. Drawing on her experience nurturing curious minds, she began crafting lessons that honored each student’s pace while upholding the rigorous standards of a classical education. That fall, Amici Latinae launched as a true labor of love.
More Than Just Words
We believe that a classical education, rich in beauty, truth, and goodness, does more than transfer knowledge—it forms the whole person. Learning Latin through our carefully sequenced curriculum (featuring Memoria Press and Lingua Latina per se Illustrata) sharpens the mind, instills discipline, and connects students to the enduring treasures of Western Civilization that have been preserved for millennia.
What began as a small, passionate endeavor has since blossomed into a thriving community. We have been privileged to partner with like-minded families across the region, parents who seek not just academic results, but a genuine encounter with the past. Together, we provide instruction in Latin and History that is both challenging and deeply inspiring.
The greatest reward has been the transformation we witness year after year. It is a profound joy to watch students—who once hesitated over a single declension—grow in confidence and understanding. They don't just memorize; they connect. They embrace the stories, the wisdom, and the very soul of the ancient world, discovering that these "old" things have become new friends.
“To learn Latin is not merely to study a language; it is to take one’s place in the great conversation of the ages.”
— Magistra Christine, Founder
